Kevin Moxley: Independent or Democrat?

Who is Kevin Moxley?

My opponent in the general election on November 3rd is Kevin Moxley, running for Idaho House District 24A. He has rebranded himself as an “Independent.” His own words, his own donations and his own history say Democrat.

There is an old saying that a leopard can’t change its spots. So don’t take my word for it. Review the evidence.

Everything below comes from the public record: his own Ballotpedia profile, his own social media posts, federal and state campaign finance reports, and local news coverage.

His own Ballotpedia profile ties him to the Democratic Party. The biography on Kevin Moxley’s Ballotpedia page states that, as of 2025, he was affiliated with the Twin Falls County Democrats and the Idaho Democratic Party.

In the candidate survey he filled out himself, he was asked who he looks up to. His answer: he takes his political inspiration from Jamie Raskin and Cory Booker, two of the most liberal Democrats in Washington.

That is not me describing him. That is how he describes himself.

Delegate, volunteer and booth worker for the Democrats. In June 2024, a fellow Twin Falls County Democrat announced that Kevin Moxley of Kimberly had been elected as an Idaho delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Photos from his own social media show the rest: working the Twin Falls County Democrats booth surrounded by Kamala Harris signs, and standing with party leaders under the Idaho Democrats banner.

You do not get sent to the Democratic National Convention as an independent.

The Democratic Party helped him get his campaign started. In his own post, Kevin wrote that he visited Idaho Democratic Party staff to get clarity on the filing process, then set up his EIN and registered his campaign with the Secretary of State. His next step, in his words, was a campaign bank account and an ActBlue account.

ActBlue is the online fundraising platform built for Democratic candidates and progressive causes.

An “independent” campaign that starts with Democratic Party staff and ActBlue?

More than a dozen Democratic campaign training courses. The National Democratic Training Committee trains Democrats to run for office. Its January 30, 2025 newsletter featured Kevin by name as one of its learners making a huge impact, noting that he had taken over a dozen of its courses and was preparing to run for State House in Twin Falls County, and cheering him on.

That newsletter was republished by the Benton County Democrats in Washington state, where you can still read it today.

Kevin spent real time being trained in Democratic campaign strategy, and the Democrats were proud enough of him to publish it. Let that sink in for a moment.

Two rebranded Democrats, one playbook. Kevin has campaigned side by side with Todd Achilles, a former Democratic state legislator who also recently became an “independent,” in his case to take on our Senator Jim Risch.

Birds of a feather?

His website told a different story last year. Before he changed his website, his platform and his talking points, I captured an image of his campaign site and the priorities it listed. They included LGBTQIA2S+ rights, returning DEI programs to colleges and universities, and protecting immigrants.

Do these sound like Idaho values? Or do they sound like that national Democratic training?

His money goes to Democrats, and Democrats’ money comes to him. A simple search of Federal Election Commission records shows more than 80 individual contributions from Kevin Moxley, totaling over $1,700, to the Idaho State Democratic Party and through ActBlue.

And the money coming into his campaign? Look for yourself at his Idaho Sunshine campaign finance report. The large majority comes from Democrats, including many donors in Washington and Oregon and many people tied to our local Twin Falls County Democratic Party.

He brought a national left-wing network to Twin Falls. Kevin co-founded Indivisible Twin Falls County Idaho and helped organize the local “No Kings” protest on June 14, 2025, when several hundred people marched from the Twin Falls County Courthouse down Shoshone Street North (KMVT coverage).

That protest was part of a coordinated nationwide day of action organized by Indivisible, the national organization, alongside more than 200 partner groups including the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. Indivisible’s funding is worth knowing: George Soros’s Open Society Foundations has given the national organization more than $7.6 million between 2017 and 2023.

His Indivisible chapter also promoted the Twin Falls County Democrats’ “From Blue Dots to Blue Wave” candidate open house, with Kevin on the list of candidates.

Is Kevin Moxley Really an “Independent”?

Can a leopard change its spots? I’ll leave that up to you, but one thing is for sure: the evidence does not look good. Nothing above, and nothing in his past, shows anything “independent.” It all leans left.

District 24, is this the direction you want our state to go? Do these represent your values?
